Rom "Saint James" Rhum Paille, Martinique AOC owes its name to the beautiful straw-golden color, gradually acquired in the process of aging in oak barrels. In them he is for 12 months, where he forms his aromatic palette. With great elegance, rum combines sweet tones of honey, dried fruits with delicate woody and vanilla notes. "Saint James" Rhum Paille, Martinique AOC in 2013 became the owner of the bronze medal "Mundus Vini". The history of the famous St. James brand originated in Saint-Pierre-de-Martinique in 1765 thanks to the mentor of the monastery, Edmond Lefebre. In the greatest mystery, he developed a unique recipe for a high quality alcoholic beverage. In 1902, the island suffered a disaster: the eruption of the volcano destroyed the city of Saint-Pierre and partially destroyed the monastery. Rom St. James took on a new life thanks to Pauline Lambert, a merchant from Marseille, who bought several distilleries in Martinique in the late 19th century. He made revolutionary changes in technology and design. Rum was poured into square bottles, which were less broken during transport on ships. The plant itself was modernized in accordance with the latest innovative technologies. The high quality of Saint James products allowed us to gain a high reputation, take the leading position among the brands of La Martinique and regularly receive awards at international competitions. The international holding company "La Martinique" was founded in 1934 by Jean-Pierre Kayar. The company's activity began with the import of rum, and by the mid-1950s the range of products had expanded considerably. After the establishment of subsidiaries, La Martiniquaise in 2001 already ranked second in the French market in terms of sales of alcoholic beverages. By that time, the company's annual turnover was already 460 million euros. To date, the company "La Martinique" produces 150 million bottles of alcoholic beverages per year, of which about a quarter are exported to 110 countries.
